Hi everyone!

Welcome to Born to Be Nomad. I’m happy to have you here.

This is my travel journal, where I collect experiences, adventures, thoughts, and the stories of the people I meet along the way.
It’s my way of telling the story of the beauty of the world and of humanity.

My name is Martina D’Errico, and even though I was born on a cold, snowy Saturday in January 2003, I chase the sun and the summer, just like a sunflower.

I was born and raised in Turin, in northern Italy, but in that reality I always felt a little out of place: everything felt unnecessarily fast and far from what truly felt like mine.

So I spent my mornings at school with my gaze lost out the window, imagining distant lands. I spent hours in front of a globe dreaming of future journeys with my backpack, and entire afternoons immersed in the books of great travelers.

So then, what was waiting for me out there?

Where did that inexplicable desire to leave, to see the world, come from?

I didn’t know but I wanted to find out.

My path:

I studied International Sciences for Cooperation, focusing on African studies and international cooperation.

For my third year of university, I flew to Bordeaux, France, for my Erasmus exchange: the most beautiful, intense, and formative year of my life. That same year, I set off on my first solo trip: Portugal, where I left a small piece of my heart.

Another experience that deeply changed me was volunteering in the Red Cross reception centers in Turin.

There, I met extraordinary people who showed me joy, generosity, and hope despite the difficulties. But most importantly, they made me fall in love with humanity.

I love moving my body and the energies that live within it: yoga is a fundamental part of who I am, and loooooong walks in nature are my medicine.

I am passionate about foreign languages: I learned Argentine Spanish (el idioma de mi corazón) at a young age, as well as Portuguese, French, and English.

I am deeply moved by sunsets, starry skies, and fruit.

Thanks to a scholarship offered by Humana People to People, I took part in an international cooperation project that brought me to Denmark for three months, where I am currently completing a training period, and that will eventually take me to the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
There, I will work for six months on a project supporting local communities.

The adventure ahead felt like the perfect moment to create this blog and start sharing what I live and what I feel.

Very soon, I will finally fulfill one of the greatest dreams of my life: discovering Africa…
